2000 POLA AUTO-EROTICA

My first experiments with photography were alone. I would pose for the
camera, a clunky plastic Polaroid – just myself, in close-up, copying the
facial expressions of old movie stars and '50s fashion models. It became
almost fetishistic, a form of role-playing that, at times, was erotically
stimulating. Over the years, I amassed scores of these self-portraits and in
2006, I exhibited a few of them as multiples sharing a single frame as part
of my exhibition of works on paper, Venus In Hell.
