2001 POLAROID STUDIES
I have always developed my ideas for my large, high gloss enamel paintings from photographs. Indeed, to some extent, my first engagement with enamel was inspired by the desire to achieve a surface similar to the page of a glossy magazine. I used a cheap, plastic Polaroid 600 camera because it enabled me to see the results of my poses instantly, even if it was sometimes unwieldy (if not impossible) to use alone. It was only later that I found the images interesting in their own right. Others have, too. Since 2006, there has been a market for them among collectors of my work.
