2010 AMANDA PALMER ALBUM
In 2010, I was invited by alt' cabaret singer Amanda Palmer to illustrate songs on her soon-to-be-released album, Amanda Palmer Goes Down Under, a collection of piano and ukulele songs written in, inspired by and recorded in Australia and New Zealand. Known for her years of punk cabaret with The Dresden Dolls, Amanda calls the album a "sonic gift to her antipodean family". It was the first time I'd considered illustrating anything, let alone an album of songs. As it turned out, the only work of mine I decided to release to the project was this enamel portrait of Amanda Palmer herself 'clad' in an Australian flag. |
